Notes From the End of the World: Live from Byron

To launch the very first Roaring Journals print edition, we figured we’d get the band together in Byron for a night to celebrate print… with a live podcast. We gave the Swellians, Vaughan and Smivvy a blank sheet for the night, which they turned into a two-hour freestyle chat and impromptu doof with Lauren Hill, Dave Rastovich and Derek Hynd. A full house at the Community Centre heard the story of Dave and Vaughano’s UFO sighting, the story of how Lauren came to Byron Bay from a small island off Florida, and why Derek mows the lawns at his place with a pair of scissors. It was a celebration of surf story with some big ideas thrown around about the fate of the natural world. Notes From the End of the World live from Byron was loose, loquacious and a fun two hours.
